Episode 2 of our weekly review of on all things related to podcast production - audio hardware, software or websites.
I've been asked many questions about the low sound quality of the first Episode. That's because, for every episode, i'll try to use the equipment that i'm reviewing to do the recording - as such last week's was done with the Panasonic Voice Recorder. I hope that in doing so you will get a sense of how the end-product will sound like.
Today my review's on the Logitech Premium USB Headset 350. Enjoy!
What I Like:
- Easy to setup if you are using WinXP / Wind2k, you won't need drivers.
- Setup on recording software is pretty easy.
What I Don't Like:
- Microphone's not very isolated and picks up quite a fair bit of background noise / sound
- Background noise are sounds other than the sound we want to pick up in our microphones (eg. the fan behind you, loud power supply fan, etc). Even though this headset claims to have noise-cancelation, its still not up to scratch.
- As with most headsets, picks up the highs and mids quite well.. but the vocals just doesn't sound deep or warm enough. Its still metallic.
Rating: 3/5
- Nice form factor
- Easy to setup anywhere
- But not the perfect gear for podcasting but it's alright.
Next Week: More Microphones!
